Things to know about Solar PV

  1. Solar PV takes energy from the sun and turns it into direct power (DC).
  2. From the panels on the roof or ground-mounted. Direct Current (DC) goes through an inverter. The inverter’s job is to take the dc power and turn it into alternating current (AC) which is the power we use in our homes.

  7. We also offer Solar Panels Installations for working families which we recommend, we can install batteries so during the day when at work the energy being created from their panels can be stored in the batteries to be used at night. 
  8. The batteries can be added to the system from the start or added at a later date.
  9. Batteries start at 3.5kwh and can be upgraded at any time.
  10. We measure usable power in watts. Your average led bulb in your house uses 5 watts. 1000 watts is a kilowatt.
  11. If your battery was fully charged to 3.5kwh (3500watts) it will run your 5 watts LED bulb for 700 hours or will run your immersion non-stop for 2 hours.
  12. Our Solar Panels Installations, has the capacity to generate 330w.
  13. To calculate how many panels it would take to generate say 3kwh we simply take 3000 and divide by 330, answer = 9 panels.
  14. The amount of panels you need depends on how much power you consume, we can calculate this during our site survey.
  15. From 2021 any excess power generated from the panels which are not being used by the consumer and going back into the national grid, the ESB will pay for!!!
